I have a small carved box made from a section of bamboo . It has carved “Santo Tomas Internment Camp Manila, P.I.” On the reverse side it has the name carved “Marjorie Abraham , interned 1-6-42 , Returned———–. I found this person’ name on a list of British prisoners. It said she was a single female, 32 years old, occupation-insurance agent. I believe this box to be a cremation urn. Can anyone tell me anything about such a container and why would something like that happen to show up at a thrift store in Asheville, North Carolina. Thanks, Patrick

I am in possession of a carved round container made from a section of bamboo. It has two sides of carvings. On one side it has -Santo Tomas Internment Camp, Manila P.I. On the opposite side it has the name- Marjorie Abraham, Interned 1-6-42. Then the word-Returned. I found this at a thrift store in Asheville,North Carolina. Can anyone tell me anything about this container that I believe to be an urn used for human ashes. Thanks, Patrick

I don’t know if the members of this group are aware of it but as a P.O.W. as a civilian of any age, you are entitled to the U.S. government Asiatic-Pacific or European Theater of Operations campaign medal. That would be a neat thing to wear on veterans day. This information is 100% factual

Next of kin can also claim the medal.
